Natural Cosmetics in the Lou

Are you concerned about the ingredients in your skincare and makeup products? If so, you have to stop in Blissoma‘s first brick and mortar all natural cosmetic shop! The shop is located at 2730 LaSalle on Floral Row in St. Louis, MO. This little gem has everything from all natural skincare and candles to nail polish and makeup!

Not only does the shop contain beautiful products that are extremely gentle but the outside is also beautiful and inviting.

When walking in you will be in awe of the historical charm complimented by organic decor elements.

The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable! They were more than happy to answer any product ingredient questions I had. Blissoma also plans to host beauty and natural health seminars in their super cute hands on center!

When you think of all natural nail polish you might assume the color selection would be limited. With the Aila nail polish line the color spectrum is modern and fresh! I can’t wait to try the all natural nail polish remover!

The color options for eyeshadows, lipsticks, and blushes were also equally impressive.

By far one of the coolest things about this shop is the fact that all the Blissoma skincare products are created in house. You can see the products being mixed and packaged for shipment.

Julie is the owner and one of the most genuine people I have ever met. She knows the ins and out of natures ingredients and is always excited to share her knowledge with anyone eager to learn. I have no doubt that her business will flourish at a rapid pace.

I picked up a few goodies while touring the shop. Blissoma’s Free Gel Cleanser is my go to when it comes to washing my face. It not only leaves my skin feeling balanced but also removes my makeup. It even takes off my waterproof mascaras with minimal effort. I also scored this beautiful whipped foundation by Lauren Brooke. The formula glides on your skin leaving it even in tone and luminous. For my eyes I purchased a black mascara by Alima and two liquid liners in caramel & navy. The thought of all natural ingredients on my entire face gives me such peace of mind.

HOW TO: Glow for the Holidays

If you are anything like me, you have worked your face off the past few weeks. Literally! High stress work environments during the holidays bring on such wonderful things like breakouts, dryness, and dullness. Gross. So now is your time to shine my friends! Here are a few things you can do to get your glow back…

STEP ONE: SLOUGH IT OFF!

With the dryness winter brings it’s as if your whole body develops are hard shell. You must break through all the nasty dead stuff to expose the beauty underneath.

FOR THE BODY: Make your own sugar scrub! Its super easy and you can find all the ingredients in your kitchen. Add some of your favorite essential oils if you want to make it a little special. Check out this awesome recipe I found on “Love Grows Wild”

This Homemade Mint Sugar Scrub is the perfect DIY gift idea! Inexpensive and easy to make!

Ingredients

½ cup coconut oil
1½ – 2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon peppermint extract
1 drop green food coloring

Instructions

Place coconut oil in a bowl and microwave on HIGH 15-25 seconds until softened.
Start by adding 1½ cups sugar to the oil, along with the peppermint extract and green food coloring. Mix until ingredients are well combined and food coloring is evenly distributed. If mixture is too wet, add another ½ cup sugar until scrub is to desired consistency.
Spoon scrub into air-tight containers (such as a mason jar) and decorate with twine or ribbon.

FOR THE FACE: Which is a little more sensitive. I have discovered the holy grail of exfoliates! Blissoma’s “Glow” exfoliating powder is pure genius. I love Sundays! I feel such a sense of renewal. It’s a day to take your time waking up and enjoy some fresh air! Many are obsessed with football games and I regret to inform you that I could careless. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the occasional beer, wings, and game. I just don’t build my Sunday Fundays around it. I guess I’m just your average girly-girl.

So here are a few of my little moments and things that I love on any given Sunday…

I can’t think of a better way to wake up on a Sunday! Plus I love the pumpkin they draw on my latte! Check out Gelateria Tavolini in downtown St. Louis, MO.

Minimal Makeup and glowing skin is my general rule to Sunday. Today I spritzed a hint of CHANEL’S “Mademoiselle” onto my scarf. My Sunday attire was inspired by the lovely CHANEL polish colors! I love EcoTools Sheer Finish Kabuki for giving my foundation an airbrushed finish. Blissoma’s “Intense Hydration Tonique” is perfect for setting my makeup and giving me that extra bit of moisture I am looking for.

Who needs perfect hair all the time? Not me! For this quick and easy style I created two French braids in an asymmetrical fashion on both sides. I then intertwined the braids when they reached my neck to create one. Need added texture? Try a bit of Davines Sea Salt Spray!

STEP ONE: Have GLOWING skin

Now I don’t mean bathe in bronzer, however do bathe in amazing skin care. I am IN LOVE with Blissoma skincare! It is 100% organic, not a stitch of artificial ingredients. I use their Gel Cleanser which is a makeup remover as well morning & night, after cleansing I use a few spritz of the Toner, and then my most favorite product of all Smooth serum. Smooth serum has changed my skin in the best way possible! NO MORE ACNE. It contains celery enzymes which apparently act as a natural form of retinol. When you turn your makeup routine into a lifestyle it becomes so much easier to get ready in the morning. Your skin feels balanced, clean, and GLOWS.

STEP TWO: Enhance your best features and even out your flaws.

I battle dark under eye circles yet love to enhance my eyes. Lately I’ve been using a BB cream and applying it with my ring finger under my eyes. ALWAYS be gentle to the skin around your eyes. The skin is very delicate and wrinkles can appear easily. There is no need to apply foundation or concealer to every part of your face. This will only make you look cakey and is completely unnecessary if you have healthy skin. To draw give the appearance of wide open eyes apply a peach eyeliner to your water line. Glominerals carries a nice peach liner. Tight line (apply liner in between top lashes) with a dark brown or black to add density to your top lashes. Use your favorite mascara to finish the eye and maybe a quick sweep of a lighter shadow. **HOT TIP: lighter colors highlight & darker color recede/ contour.

STEP THREE: Be prepared

STEP FOUR: Set it and forget it.

Use a setting spray to make your look flawless and last all day. I personally use Glominerals makeup so I love Hydration Mist. Mineral makeup under a microscope looks like fish scales. Hydration mist melds those scales so your makeup looks like hydrated healthy skin.
