Spring 2014 Haircolor Collection by Kristen Linares

This year I decided to create my own version of what I felt looked good for Spring 2014.

It’s easy to follow the trends so the challenge of creating my own collection seemed fun!  I was inspired by the shine and texture of bird feathers and the soft pastel colors Spring introduces to us each season. Great hair color should grow out seamlessly. Instead of “needing” to get a touch up in 6-8 weeks you should just feel excited to enhance your look a bit further because you want to.

Ombre to Sombre. Redheads look beautiful in rich coppers and golds this season.

Hair Black as Ebony. Hints of Blue give the darkest hair the appearance of texture and incredible shine.

GoldenSand Blondes. Keeping depth at the root gives the ends a bright yet soft feel.

Creamy Mocha Brunette. Add subtle honey highlights to your brunette locks for texture and shine.

It’s all about Balance

It's all about Balance

If there’s one thing a great designer understands, it’s balance. I love the way Ohne Titel’s fall 2013 collection incorporates curves and squares. To achieve a similar look I recommend prepping the hair with Davines All in one milk. All in one milk will provide heat protection as well as softness, shine, and style memory. Once the hair is completely dry brush the fringe area forward and apply Davines This is a Volume Boosting Mousse. Comb the fringe into place, tuck behind ear, and blowdry with a nozzle in a controlled manner. To add even more shine spritz with Davines This is a Shimmering mist.

Spring/ Summer 2013: Combat Frizz

Just when you think you’ve finally mastered your hair’s texture and flaws, the seasons change and stop you in your hair styling tracks! It’s frustrating, I know! I would like to share with you some Services, Product, and Styles to consider for the hot & humid months. Don’t let the season attack your style. Get ready for Hot weather Combat!

SERVICES:

As soon as you feel that first bead of sweat call your stylist and get on your Spring/ Summer hair care schedule! Every 6-8 weeks book yourself for a Cut, Glaze, and Deep Condition. Ideally you should deep condition 2x a week! When it is humid there is obviously tons of moisture in the hair. Therefore if your hair is dry your cuticle will swell and try to suck every bit of moisture it can out of the air! A swollen cuticle= frizz. A smooth cuticle= hydration and reflection of light which also=shine.

  • The proper Cut for your NATURAL texture is perfect for hot months. Don’t fight your hair when it’s hot. Listen to what it wants to naturally do.
  • A Glaze can be clear or demi/semi permanent color. Glazes are deposit only so they soothe the cuticle almost like a top coat of nail polish leaving your strands shiny, silky, and bouncy!
  • If possible Deep Condition 2x a week. This will prevent your hair from searching for moisture in the air.

FiVE minute FaCE

Who has time to pull a Kim Kardashian in the morning? I sure as hell don’t and quite honestly I don’t feel like painting my face into something it is not. The best way (in my opinion of course) to look glamorous in 5 minutes is to…

STEP ONE: Have GLOWING skin

imagesNow I don’t mean bathe in bronzer, however do bathe in amazing skin care. I am IN LOVE with Blissoma skincare! It is 100% organic, not a stitch of artificial ingredients. I use their Gel Cleanser which is a makeup remover as well morning & night, after cleansing I use a few spritz of the Toner, and then my most favorite product of all Smooth serum. Smooth serum has changed my skin in the best way possible! NO MORE ACNE. It contains celery enzymes which apparently act as a natural form of retinol. When you turn your makeup routine into a lifestyle it becomes so much easier to get ready in the morning. Your skin feels balanced, clean, and GLOWS.

STEP TWO: Enhance your best features and even out your flaws.

I battle dark under eye circles yet love to enhance my eyes. Lately I’ve been using a BB cream and applying it with my ring finger under my eyes. ALWAYS be gentle to the skin around your eyes. The skin is very delicate and wrinkles can appear easily. There is no need to apply foundation or concealer to every part of your face. This will only make you look cakey and is completely unnecessary if you have healthy skin. To draw give the appearance of wide open eyes apply a peach eyeliner to your water line. Glominerals carries a nice peach liner. Tight line (apply liner in between top lashes) with a dark brown or black to add density to your top lashes. Use your favorite mascara to finish the eye and maybe a quick sweep of a lighter shadow. **HOT TIP: lighter colors highlight & darker color recede/ contour.

STEP THREE: Be prepared

anya-hindmarch-makeup-bag

In order for your makeup application to only take 5 minutes you need to have everything ready to go. Stock your 5 min face bag with…

  • Your favorite glosses in a nude and a pop color
  • mascara
  • moisturizer
  • chap stick
  • concealer
  • foundation
  • favorite blush/bronzer
  • blush brush and eyshadow brush
  • eyeliner in peach and dark brown or black
  • Setting spray

STEP FOUR: Set it and forget it.

Use a setting spray to make your look flawless and last all day. I personally use Glominerals makeup so I love Hydration Mist. Mineral makeup under a microscope looks like fish scales. Hydration mist melds those scales so your makeup looks like hydrated healthy skin.
