Naturalizer Shoes: From Day to Play

Saint Louis Fashion week was a whirlwind of fun and fashion! My favorite part was the presentation hosted by Naturalizer Shoes & Brown Shoe Company. I have always been a lover of Naturalizers since I stand on my feet all day doing hair and makeup. I was thrilled to see the new designs are cuter than ever while still maintaining their strong level of comfort.

“For more than 85 years, Naturalizer has understood how truly comfortable shoes can help women move energetically through their day and live life to the fullest. Born in 1927, Naturalizer was the first brand made truly for the shape of a woman’s foot. Our heritage is built on our commitment to designing beautiful, fashionable and trend-right shoes that feel as good at the end of the day as they do at the beginning. Naturalizer is one of the few footwear brands who provide a wide variety of sizes and widths from size 4-11 and 12 in narrows, mediums, wides and wide wide widths. We also carry boots in wide calf sizes.” -Naturalizer

I chose to leave the presentation wearing a pair of McNair knee high boots. They are perfect for my downtown living lifestyle! Super comfortable and beautiful in design.

Walking on the cobblestone in downtown St. Louis has never felt better!

I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of shoes from the Naya line by Brown Shoe! Naya is about 4 years old and was designed as a fashionable comfort brand. Designers Ron D’Aloia & Jenny Matthews were at the presentation to explain their designs. When asked, “What woman wears Naya?” Ron’s response was, ” I don’t want to give her an age. This woman is confident, affluent, and fashion savvy. She knows fashion and enjoys comfort.”

Overall, I really loved spending time learning more about a brand I already love!

Backstage NYFW with Nathan Rosenkranz

I met Nathan Rosenkranz at the first salon I assisted at in Bethlehem, PA. Back then Nate was a great stylist behind the chair. Fast forward 8ish years he is now a Freelance artist in NYC working for brands such as Alterna and styling celebs like James Franco. It takes a lot of hard work and networking to get where he is today so it was very cool to hang and see him in action. When I reached out to Nate a few weeks ago I was hoping to interview him backstage at some of the shows he was leading. Instead, he asked if I would like to work on his styling team! Even better!

I arrived to Lincoln center around 7:30am and found Nate and his team waiting outside the Salon tents. Everyone on his team was super nice! I could tell that it was going to be a no stress environment. In the past I have worked NYFW with another brand who will remain nameless and they were not so pleasant. I love everything about the beauty industry and love people who love it too so when someone is rude its a total buzz kill. THANK YOU NATE for leading such a polite team!

Around 8am we were given our passes and allowed into the tents to set up our workspace.

Once we were all set up Nate explained the step by step of the look we would be creating for DEOLA’S Spring 2015 collection.

The final outcome was gorgeous! DEOLA is absolutely amazing. As a lead stylist it is important to work with the designer and decide what hair will compliment the garments. Nate nailed it! The hair was not only beautiful but also wearable. This is a classic style that would look great on any woman!

New Years Eve Fashion

It’s almost time to celebrate the beginning of 2014 and what ever shall we wear?! Thanks to my friends at CLR-MNSTR boutique and art space we were able to put together a few different looks for your New Years Eve parties!

“Lady in Red”

This red mini dress is perfect for a party at your favorite bar or even a house party. I loved the statement necklace as well. With this look I felt like the hair should be simple and laid back.

For Full bodied- bouncy touchable hair start by spraying a dry shampoo like Davines’ Hair Refresher onto the root area. Brush the dry shampoo through the hair with a Mason Pearson style brush. I recommend Marilyn Brushes “The New Yorker” for a budget friendly approach. Working in horizontal sections with a large barrel iron spray Davines No Gas hairspray onto each section of hair. Brush spray through with your boar bristle brush. Start curling your hair from roots to ends. This will give you more body and volume rather than starting to curl from ends to root. Once all the hair is curled brush out gently for soft touchable hair.

“All that Glitters”

This dress screams New Years Eve and bubbly!

Tousled Texture in the hair gives the dress some edge. Starting in the crown take 1-2inch sections and gently backcomb using a brush like Spornette’s Little Wonder brush  leave out a 1inch section around the hairline. take one section on either side of the head, pull hair towards face and backcomb. Once you’ve backcombed the hair into a crazy looking sculpture take the side of your “Little wonder” brush and comb the hair back away from the face. Use Davines Medium hold hairspray to direct flyaways away from the face. Gather hair in a faux hawk fashion and start inserting bobby pins until you love the way it looks!

“Classic Black”

If you’re planning a romantic dinner with your man and keeping the party classy this look is perfect.

I love the look of a french twist when the neckline is high. Instead of bobby pins try using chopsticks or even just a pencil to hold your hair in place! Below the image you will find a tutorial on how to get the look. Also, if you follow the directions for “Lady in Red” this will give your hairstyle a long lasting hold and texture.
