5 Reasons: Book your hair appointment during the work week!

A great shampoo experience can go a long way! If you are sitting in an office crunching numbers all day, dealing with people to the point of insanity, and lack the creativity to continue being productive, taking a break to be pampered can really help.

Most new stylist are required to work every Saturday until they build a solid clientele. This means missed birthday parties, family gatherings, and weekend getaways. Understand that your stylist loves their friends, family, and life too by supporting their business during the week!

A huge benefit of scheduling your hair appointment during the week is the fact that you will look powerful at work! Looking polished will help you make a great first impression in any business setting. When you look put together you not only feel more energized but you look effortless while getting the job done!

When you look good you feel good! When your work stress has you feeling down looking pretty sure does help!

Knowing your hair is going to look awesome all week, plan something fun Saturday morning. You could have brunch with girlfriends, take a trip to the farmers market, or just spend your entire day outside!

New Year New You

2013 is finally here so let’s start it off on the right foot! The year ending is always a feeling of shaking off the old and embracing the new. Don’t give yourself a chance to slip back in to old habits. Shake it off and run!

The alarm goes off. Jump out of bed like your ass is on fire! Don’t even think about “snoozing”. I know it sounds dreadful but I guarantee when you slip into that nice warm shower you’re going to feel awesome!

Some of my favorite morning rituals:

  • Washing my face with Blissoma Free Makeup Remover and Cleansing gelBlissoma-Free-lg
  • COFFEE preferably from the Washington Ave Post ❤ the almond mocha latte!Urdhva Dhanurasana, Wheel pose, back bend
  • A few quick yoga poses to work out the bedtime kinks. *Any type of back bend will energize and wake your body up.

You’ve worked hard and probably let yourself go in the process. Give yourself a break and go to the salon. Get the works! You will leave with a new confidence and drive to be the best version of “You”

STEP THREE: tumblr_m528qsBuoE1qz6f9yo1_500

Stock up on anything that will keep you feeling upbeat and good about yourself. Trust me, once you spend the money and realize what a difference it makes on your mindset you will make it work for your budget year round. Now I’m not saying go out and buy a brand new Mercedes. All I’m saying is if the shampoo your stylist uses on you makes you feel like Kate Middleton splurge a little and forget the V05 that makes your hair resemble hay.

Some of my must haves:

  • cute planner to plan your new year goals
  • Hair and Makeup products designed for your hair and skin type. (recommended by your beauty professional) **I love Original Mineral & Davines haircare!
  • A good razor and shaving cream or esthetician!
  • Healthy foods that give you energy not cheaper processed foods that bring you down.
  • Fresh air!! It’s free and mind-blowing!
  • Quiet time with a soy candle burning

Follow your <3

Follow your heart and happiness will follow you. I believe listening to yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Yes, friends and family are always out for your best interest but only you and you alone can decide which path to follow. Living a life planned by anyone other than yourself is a road to boredom and disappointment.

“You can talk with someone for years, everyday, and still, it won’t mean as much as what you can have when you sit in front of someone, not saying a word, yet you feel that person with your heart, you feel like you have known the person for forever…. connections are made with the heart, not the tongue.”

Time to have a life

I’ve ended a chapter in my life and started a new one. The  past 6 years as a stylist in the salon have been great! I’ve learned so much from all the amazing people I’ve worked with. From exclusive high-end to chain salons, everyone has taught me something valuable and different. I can’t believe the time has come for me to branch off on my own! I guess I always thought this would happen later in life but I’m sooo glad it’s happening right now instead!

I would like to take you all on a little journey of how, who, and what has inspired me to become the beauty professional I am today…

It starts with the family…

My mom, grandma, and aunts all do hair. We have a salon in Albrightsville, PA that has been in our family for almost 25 years! This is my aunt Darlene : ) she currently owns the family business.

Since I was old enough to walk I swept floors, took rollers out of all the little old ladies’ hair, and provided entertainment by styling my oversized Barbie head. I always knew I wanted to be the boss and call the shots just like my family.

The Mentors

As soon as I finished beauty school I knew I wanted “The Best” training possible before calling myself a real stylist. Lucky me. I met global colorist Patrick McIvor. The man is a color genius and has opened more doors than I ever imagined. He taught me to, “Always be a yes or a no.” People who never ask questions don’t get very far. I would rather know the answer is no rather than never asking at all.

Jayson Morgan

The coolest guy you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting. He taught me everything I know about cutting and celeb worthy Blow Outs!

Melissa Johnson

This girl knows her stuff and is by far the funniest person I’ve ever met. Love her!

The What…

Growing up I loved watching people like Carmindy on TLC’s What Not to Wear. I loved her down to earth approach and ability to make anyone look amazing.

Music videos and anything Tim Burton. I am fascinated by the characters that are created with hair and makeup!

The last piece to my Entrepreneur puzzle is “The Four Hour Work Week” This book filled in the blanks and made it an easy decision to move on with my ultimate dream.

My NEW CHAPTER: I am now a Freelance artist who has created the ultimate co-op working environment for people just like me! Check it out! http://www.ThirteenthandWashington.com
